About Laura

Laura Tempel is in her nineteenth year as director of choral activities at Champlin Park High School where her duties include directing Con Brio, Bel Canto, and the auditioned Varsity and Concert Choirs. Laura also serves as the artistic director of Rebelution, Champlin Park’s select vocal jazz ensemble.

Her students have had the opportunity to work with Anders Edenroth, Jeremy Manternach, Jake Runestad, Tesfa Wondemagegnehu, Garrison Keillor, Bradley Miller, Christopher Aspaas, Bret Amundson, Ann Howard Jones, Angela Broeker, Sigrid Johnson, Axel Theimer, Lee Nelson, Phil Mattson, Mary Kay Geston, Matthew Mehaffey, and Jeremy Fox, among others.

Laura earned her Bachelor of Music degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota, her Master of Education degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, and her Master of Arts in Music Education with a choral conducting emphasis from the University of Saint Thomas.

Laura is a member of the American Choral Directors Association, Minnesota Music Educators Association, Jazz Education Network, and the VoiceCare Network.
